Frequently asked questions
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are 50 minutes, and the fee is $130 per session. Extended sessions are available as well for a fee of $200 per 90-minute session. Payment will be due in full at the end of your counseling session. The card you place on file to secure your initial appointment will be charged through SimplePractice.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance directly. Many clients use HSA or FSA funds to pay for therapy. Additionally, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
Additionally, I recommend utilizing Thrizer. Thrizer helps clients successfully navigate their out-of-network benefits, saving them an average of 70% on sessions even if therapists don't directly accept insurance. You can learn more here and check your out-of-network coverage for counseling.
Why are you private pay?
This is an intentional decision based on my commitment to privacy, autonomy, and flexibility in care. By not working with insurance, I am able to offer support without requiring a clinical diagnosis and without insurance companies determining eligibility for services or influencing the type, frequency, or duration of care provided.
Additionally, maintaining a private-pay practice allows me to devote more time and energy to the aspects of care that directly benefit my clients. Rather than navigating claim denials, prior authorizations, and other administrative requirements associated with insurance billing, I am able to focus that time on providing thoughtful, individualized support; coordinating referrals and additional resources when appropriate; and pursuing specialized training that enhances the care I offer to mothers and couples.
I also recognize that concerns related to fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and perinatal loss often involve deeply personal experiences and sensitive decisions. Protecting clients' privacy is central to my approach. This model allows individuals and couples to make decisions about their care in partnership with their providers, rather than within the constraints and requirements of third-party payers, particularly when these experiences and needs do not always fit neatly within insurance-driven models of care.
While this means services are offered on a private-pay basis, it also allows me to prioritize individualized, relationship-centered care and focus on what is most helpful and appropriate for each mother and couple I serve.
If you have out-of-network benefits, I am happy to provide superbills that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. I am also glad to support clients who wish to utilize Thrizer to simplify the process of seeking reimbursement for out-of-network services.
